Today saw Jason & Julie’s Brighton Cabaret Club Wedding and what a wedding it was too! Jason & Julie first got in touch in March as they had been in two minds as to whether they should have a professional photographer for their wedding or not. We had a really good chat about all the options and when they confirmed they wanted to book it was such great news as it sounded like their day was going to be very different with a very unique venue not to mention they were a great couple as well!
We started the day in two different locations with my assistant Aiden covering the groom meeting with guest at the Thomas Keep pub in Kemptown and me starting with the bridal preparations at the brides house in Seaford. When I arrived Julie was just having the finishing touches applied to her make up by Lorraine from Absolute Beauty in Seaford so there was just time to get some of the detail photos before everyone started to get ready.
After a few photos of everyone it was time to head for the bus that was taking everyone to Brighton, I should point out that this wasn’t a normal bus but the Proud Cabaret Bus! It was certainly a different way to travel to a wedding.
As we were leaving Seaford Jason and the guests were starting to make their way to the Cabaret Club with a brief stop off for some photos on the way.
Once we arrived at the club I just had time to catch up with Aiden and get everything setup whilst Julie was talking to the registrars. As there is no natural light in the venue you need to get the lighting just right to there isn’t lots of high powered flashes going off distracting everyone but there is just enough to light to bride and groom. Its times like this where you really need to know what your doing and can balance your lighting with the ambience of the room.
After a lovely ceremony it was back out to the bus to head down to Brighton seafront for the group photos whilst the venue changed the main room round for the wedding breakfast.
Once we arrived back at the venue I managed to nip in before everyone to get the photos of this amazing venue and all the details before all the guests came in.
The wedding breakfast was followed by the speeches and I have to say Jason was very at home on the stage and did a great speech although he did get heckled at one point by the youngest guest who wanted to get involved!
After the wedding breakfast we managed to whisk Jason & Julie away for a few more photos at a little area we’d found during the venue visit a few weeks before. It’s great when we’re able to do things like this as it adds some great variety and even more good photos of the couple for their album. By the time we got back to the club the evening guests were arriving and everyone was getting ready for the evenings entertainment.
Rather than having a DJ or a Band Jason & Julie had decided to have a full cabaret night at the club and after a few words from Jason it was over to the compare for what looked like a great evening of entertainment. What a great day.
